About WritSpeak
WritSpeak is an IELTS Writing and Speaking coach. You write or record an answer, see your mistakes marked, correct them and re-check to see what you fixed.
What it does
- Writing. Estimates a band for each of the four IELTS Writing criteria and quotes your own sentences when it points out a problem. It shows your three most important fixes and a model answer for comparison.
- Speaking. Parts 1, 2 and 3. Your recording is turned into a transcript and assessed on the four IELTS Speaking criteria.
- Fix and re-check. Correct your answer and submit it again. WritSpeak checks whether the mistake has gone and keeps a list of mistakes you repeat and mistakes you have fixed.
- Progress. Your estimated bands over time, built only from checks you actually did.
How the assessment works
- An AI model reads your answer against the published IELTS band descriptors for each criterion.
- It must quote words you actually wrote. A quote that does not appear in your answer is removed before you see it.
- Spelling and punctuation fixes alone do not move a band.
- Every band is labelled AI practice estimate — not an official IELTS result.
Limits you should know
- An AI estimate can differ from an examiner's mark. Use it to find what to practise, not to predict your exam score.
- Pronunciation. A transcript cannot show how you sound. WritSpeak does not claim to assess pronunciation from a transcript. Pronunciation feedback is shown only when an audio-based check has really been run on your recording.
- An overall Speaking band is shown only when all four criteria have been scored.
- The same answer checked twice can receive slightly different feedback.
